Physical Therapy

Our approach to physical therapy treatment starts with a comprehensive evaluation where we attempt to identify the source of your injury. Treatment focuses on activity-specific movements and return to full functionality and includes strengthening, stretching, muscle re-education, anti-inflammation and pain management. Modalities along with joint and soft tissue mobilization are also used when indicated. Treatment frequency ranges from one to three times a week and each patient is given a comprehensive home program to accompany the therapy.

Extremity Limitations

Extremity limitations consist of injuries to shoulders, knees, hips, ankles and other joints.

Spine and Postural Deficiencies

Low back and neck pain caused by postural malalignment, degenerative changes or acute trauma. Treatment focuses on body mechanics, body awareness and core strengthening and stability.

Post-operative Procedures

Common operations that require physical therapy include knee and hip replacements, or other surgeries to knees, shoulders and other joints.

High-level return to sports and activities

Many patients finish physical therapy prior to being at full strength. Running Start will help with the transition from physical therapy to return to sports and other high level activities.

Running Start has established connections to many of the Peninsula’s best orthopedists, sports medicine specialists, spine specialists, pilates trainers and massage therapists. We also know many of the local sports teams and recommend the best fit for you and your goals.
